Amanda Kurz is an interior designer specializing in hospitality, resort, boutique hotel, and custom residential design. With nearly two decades of experience, she is known for creating environments that feel timeless, authentic, and deeply connected to their surroundings while balancing beauty, functionality, and the guest experience.

Born in Aspen and raised in Basalt, Colorado, Amanda developed an early appreciation for design, craftsmanship, and construction through her father, a general contractor and furniture builder. Those formative experiences shaped her understanding that great design begins with a strong foundation and a deep respect for how spaces are built and experienced.

Amanda earned her degree in Interior Design from Colorado State University in 2006, along with a minor in Construction Management. She began her career in the Roaring Fork Valley, working on custom residential projects and collaborating closely with architects, builders, and craftspeople throughout the region.

In 2015, Amanda joined Timbers Resorts as Head of Interior Design for Hospitality Development, leading luxury hospitality projects and resort communities throughout North America, the Caribbean, and beyond. In this role, she directed design efforts for world-class destinations, creating memorable guest experiences rooted in a strong sense of place, thoughtful storytelling, and operational excellence. Today, she continues her relationship with Timbers Resorts as a Hospitality Interior Design Consultant.

In 2020, Amanda founded AK Designs LLC, bringing together her expertise in hospitality, residential design, and project collaboration. Through AK Designs, she partners with developers, hotel operators, architects, and homeowners to create environments that are both elevated and enduring. Her portfolio spans boutique hotels, resort properties, mixed-use developments, and custom homes, each thoughtfully tailored to its setting, purpose, and community.

Amanda’s design philosophy is grounded in the belief that meaningful spaces tell a story. Whether designing a luxury resort, a boutique hospitality experience, or a family home, she approaches every project with curiosity, collaboration, and a commitment to creating places that foster connection and leave a lasting impression.

Based in Colorado’s Roaring Fork Valley, Amanda continues to work on projects throughout the country, drawing inspiration from the landscapes, communities, and people that make every place unique.
